Admission Information

Admission is based solely on academic achievement.  This includes SAT or ACT, GPA and AP exams.  The International Baccalaureate is also accepted.  Personal statements, references and extracurricular activities are not factored into admissions.

Entry requirements vary per bachelor’s degree.  Minimum entry scores include:  SAT: 1320 – 1400 or ACT 28 – 20; and GPA 3.2 – 3.6; and relevant AP exams score of 3.  For the IB, guaranteed entry ranges from 31 – 38.

We offer rolling admissions for international students who can apply any time during their senior year.  Overseas Australian citizens must apply through VTAC, the state central body, at the same time as local domestic students.

Semester 1 runs from March – June; Semester 2 from late July to mid-November.  Students can start in either semester.

Annual tuition ranges from approximately US$22,000 – US$30,000, depending on the exchange rate with the Australian dollar.  Tuition fees vary with each bachelor’s degree and the courses taken within the degree.

Financial Aid

The strong US dollar provides affordable access to excellence at the University of Melbourne.  High-achieving international students are automatically considered for Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarships, which range from AU$10,000 tuition remission for one year to full tuition remission for the duration of the degree.

The University of Melbourne is an approved participant in the Federal Student Aid (FSA) program administered by the United States Department of Education. This program offers Direct Loans to students or their parents to assist with living and education costs.  Students can also use US private loans and US Veteran Affairs education benefits at the University of Melbourne.  Learn more about financial aid at the University of Melbourne.

All international students can work 40 hours per fortnight during the semester and full-time during breaks. The minimum wage in Australia is AU$19/hour.
